Los Angeles County - Interactive Sample Ballot (ISB) | Lead User Experience Designer - Smartmatic // 2020

Andrew led the design and launch of a first-of-its-kind, award winning, California State Certified, Interactive Sample Ballot (ISB) isb.lavote.gov. The ISB continues to support Los Angeles County voters in every state and federal election since 2020. The ISB was recognized by the Elections Assistance Commission as “Winner for Accessibility” for its use by the Flex Vote Center Program to support accessible voting and curbside voting in 2020. The ISB was also the winner of the Government Experience Award from The Center for Digital Government.

together.gov | Senior User Experience Designer - Coforma // 2021

Andrew led UX Design efforts to build together.gov, a website that helped reunite families separated at the border by the U.S. Government’s zero-tolerance policy from January 20, 2017 and January 20, 2021. Read the case study here

The No Suprises Act | Senior User Experience Designer - Coforma // 2021

The No Surprises Act was passed to protect patients from unexpected and expensive medical bills when they receive care from out-of-network providers at in-network facilities or in emergencies. To comply with this legislation, Andrew led UX design and research efforts to identify workflow improvements and provided recommendations to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). These recommendations provide a pathway for streamlining data collection, submission, and compliance processing for insurance companies, healthcare providers, and CMS teams. This guidance will have a long lasting impact on the healthcare experience for the roughly 39% of Americans supported by Medicare/Medicaid services. Read the case study here.

Accessible Voting Guidelines and Design System | UX Design Director/Lead UX Designer - Everyone Counts // 2018

Andrew created a UX Accessibility Style Guide based on specific requirements of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission. Additionally, Andrew designed, composed, and developed a UX/UI Product Style guide to ensure a consistent look and feel for all election products. In this process, Andrew collaborated directly with Engineers to create Front-End code (HTML/SASS/CSS) for many common components.

The Big Fix | Logo Design - Local Motion // 2011

Andrew created the logo for “The Big Fix” - a campaign by Local Motion, a non-profit organization from Burlington, Vermont. The Big Fix was a campaign to raise capital to restore the historic Island Line Trail, which had been severly damaged by Hurricane Irene. The logo was used to build momentum for fundraising efforts. Within 104 days, the campaign’s goal of raising $1.5 million dollars was achieved and the trail was reopened to the public in the spring of 2013. Read the case study here.
